The ICC Level 3 – GROUPWORK, GAMES AND GROUP MIND

ENSEMBLE WORK- IT’S ALL ABOUT US
In our Level 3 class you’ll focus on the most important element of improv: the ensemble. You’ll focus on the group, embracing each person’s unique abilities to create a strong and wonderful group mind.
“What is improv?” At its heart, improvisation is about working together as a team to create something wonderful in the moment. Improv is literally for everyone because it’s all about having fun and improving as a person. It’s a great way to push the boundaries of your comfort zone in a positive and supportive environment. Remember, every second of every day is improvised. So you’re already doing it, whether you know it or not.
“What do I need to bring?”
* Clothing that you can move easily in
* A bottle of water
* A notepad and pen
* An open mind and an eagerness to explore.
“Will there be a performance?” There will be a demonstration of the skills you’ve learned, with your teacher on stage. It will be only to an invited audience of your family and friends – so no need to stress!
“What do we do?” You’ll work together to create ideas that inspire the group to create some truly memorable moments. You’ll focus on developing develop trust in your team without ego and learn that with support there are no limits to your creativity! This level is where you really begin to connect’ with your group and discover that unique bond which will take you to different worlds!
“Who can take this class?” Anyone 18 years old and over who has completed our Levels 1 and 2, or with approval from the Artistic Director.
“How long is this class?” 7 week sessions with each class lasting 2.5 hours.
“What’s the value of this?” “YES! AND…!” means to build off each other moment to moment, creating in the present as you go. We do that through “Group Mind”, which is crucial in gaining a true understanding of how important and how reliant you are on your ensemble, and they are on you. You will learn to trust your instincts and those of the people around you. You will also be amazed at how liberating group creativity is.
About the teacher:
Marius is one of our veteran performers at the ICC Theatre and also a teacher at the ICC Training Centre.
He has been with the ICC since May 2016 as a performer and a teacher, working with hundreds of students. He has thrown himself into improv comedy with a background in dance & theatre.
Marius Lathey has appeared in short films, commercials and music videos and played the lead role in the critically acclaimed theatre play The Pillowman.
