Once the workshops are announced, you can attend any workshops but you will need to register and pay before you can attend.
Please note: some of the workshops might be ONLY suitable for more experienced improvisers. If you are completely new to improvisation, these workshops will not be suitable for you. Instead, check out the ICC Theatre beginner classes here

As an ensemble, we will focus on openings, group games, edits and transitions, environment, space and object work. By the end of the week, a new form will appear and you will have tools and exercises to take back to your group. These are not replacements for good scene work, the backbone of improv, they’re compliments.

Teacher BIO:
Jay Sukow is excited to be back teaching at the 2018 CIIF. He will gladly talk endlessly about how much better the world would be if everyone took just one improv class. He has taught and performed improv professionally for over 25 years and is the founder of Today Improv, where he teaches improv to actors, business, and everybody else, all over the world.

He is currently on faculty at M.i.’s Westside Comedy Theater and The Second City Hollywood. Jay was a faculty member of The Second City Chicago, iO Chicago (where he was also head of their artistic committee) and ComedySportz Chicago, and has taught and performed throughout the world, including the BIG IF4, Copenhagen International Impro Festival, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the New Orleans Comedy Festival, Club Med and the Del Close Marathon.

He currently performs with the house team Lucy at Westside Comedy Theater as well as their faculty group. He has toured throughout the world with ComedySportz Chicago and Mission Improvable. He performed for two years on the stages of The Second City Northwest, was on several House teams at iO Chicago, an ensemble member of ComedySportz Chicago, and a guest performer with the Second City, the Second City ETC, Boom Chicago and Messing with a Friend.

He is the co-host of “Improvcast with Jay and Landon” and has been a guest on several podcasts including “Tales from the Teacher’s Lounge,” “Improv Yak,” “Improv Nerd with Jimmy Carrane,” “ADD Comedy with Dave Razowsky” and was featured in the improv documentary “Whether the Weather.”

He is a graduate of the Second City Conservatory, Second City NW Conservatory, and the training centers of iO Chicago and ComedySportz Chicago. He has trained with Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Jon Favreau, Del Close, Charna Halpern, Keith Johnstone, Mick Napier, Jeff Michalski, Marc Warzecha and many more. Jay currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, two kids, and dog and does not miss Chicago winters.
