PREREQUISITE: ADVANCED PLAYERS ONLY. Participants should be proficient at longform formats (Harold, Armando, open Montage). The time has come for your troupe to build an original form. But where do you start? Join Second City alumni Rob Norman as he reveal easy-to-use techniques for original form creation.
Day one: THE MAKER
Creating forms can be stressful. Drawing diagrams, hours of discussion, and conflicting ideas of what your team should be doing. But it doesn’t have to be. Over the last 7 years The Second City Toronto has been creating original longform formats through a technique called The Maker. Instead of improvising a scene, take a suggestion and instantly improvise an entire format. No planning or stress, just play.
In a single afternoon, we’ll build an entire format from beginning to end. We’ll discuss openers, group scenes, themes, and transitions ready for performance. Participants will be creators and owners of their unique format!
PLEASE BRING A NOTEBOOK AND PEN!
