Faster, Bigger, Bolder, Shorter
What is short form?
As a student of Improv, you will most likely have tried your hand at short form playing games like: Chain Murder Mystery – Soap Opera – Late for Work – Spelling Bee.
Short Form is typically games and or scenes with a set of rules and or restrictions designed to challenge the improviser. The focus of Short Form is to get laughs, but it can come off as ‘gimmicky’ and therefore less funny if you don’t know what you are doing. Short Form requires thinking on your feet, confidence, 100% commitment and complete trust in your scene partners. Basically, all skills a good improviser needs.
What will you learn?
In the workshop you will get in depth coaching on how to perform and host a series of Short Form games. This will help you to improve your ability within.
Miming & Guessing games – Justification & Heightening – Character Work & Genre Play
The skills required to perform Short Form successfully will also elevate your Long Form performance. The shows at the ICC consist of 60% Short Form, and confidence performing Short Form will also give you a leg up as a performer when auditioning for Talent Pool and Mainstage.
Come join the intensive fun, activate those brain cells in new ways and take your Improv to new heights.
